Exhibited Materials of "Kiyose's Uchihaori," a National Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property
Kiyose's Uchiori" are garments made for private use in Kiyose City and its surrounding areas. The clothes are made from waste cocoons that cannot be shipped to the silk mills and leftover threads from the mill. A wide range of materials have been collected, from long dresses and haori to threads, fabrics, and rips. 469 items have been designated as cultural assets. The materials are permanently exhibited in the Folklore Exhibition Room, and are replaced every two months in odd-numbered months for preservation. The room is closed on the last day of even-numbered months for replacement work. The closing days are subject to change.
More than 30 large tapestries woven by past members will be on display. Please come and see the works created with the techniques passed down from generation to generation and with the cooperation of our members.
The popular annual event "Coaster Weaving Experience! will also be held.
In each area of the city, there is an Inari Ko, a group of people who believe in Inari, and a festival is still held around the first noon day of February every year. In this article, we will introduce Inari worship and Inari Ko in Kiyose through ancient documents related to Inari worship and the actual tables and bowls used.
