Exhibited Materials of "Kiyose's Uchihaori," a National Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property
Kiyose's Uchiori" are garments made for private use in Kiyose City and its surrounding areas. The clothes are made from waste cocoons that cannot be shipped to the silk mills and leftover threads from the mill. A wide range of materials have been collected, from long dresses and haori to threads, fabrics, and rips. 469 items have been designated as cultural assets. The materials are permanently exhibited in the Folklore Exhibition Room, and are replaced every two months in odd-numbered months for preservation. The room is closed on the last day of even-numbered months for replacement work. The closing days are subject to change.
