42nd Themed Exhibition: “Kiyose and Niiza: Our Neighbor, ‘Mt. Fuji’”
We will be holding a traveling exhibition at the Kiyose City Local History Museum and the Niiza City Museum of History and Folklore (Rekishiterasu). Venue: 1st Floor Exhibition Hall Event Dates: Sunday, August 9, 2026, through Sunday, September 27, 2026 Closed: Mondays (Open on September 21), September 24 (Thursday) Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Focusing on the “Nakazato Fujizuka,” designated as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tangible Folk Cultural Property, we will explore the Fuji-kō movement in Kiyose. We’d appreciate your votes! ♥ Once again this year, the local history museum’s mascot, “Maehara Kiyoshi-kun,” is competing in the “Museum Character Award 2026,” hosted by IM’s “Internet Museum.” [Voting Period] Through Thursday, September 3 (You can vote once a day.) Who is “Maehara Kiyoshi-kun”? He’s a fairy based on the “perforated-rimmed pottery” unearthed at the Nojio-Maehara archaeological site in Kiyose City. To commemorate this anniversary, we will exhibit bookmarks made in the Meiji and Taisho eras, when Kiyose was still a village.
