42nd Themed Exhibition: “Kiyose and Niiza: Our Neighbor, ‘Mt. Fuji’”
We will be holding a traveling exhibition at the Kiyose City Local History Museum and the Niiza City Museum of History and Folklore (Rekishiterasu). Venue: 1st Floor Exhibition Hall Event Dates: Sunday, August 9, 2026, through Sunday, September 27, 2026 Closed: Mondays (Open on September 21), September 24 (Thursday) Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Focusing on the “Nakazato Fujizuka,” designated as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tangible Folk Cultural Property, we will explore the Fuji-kō movement in Kiyose. We’d appreciate your votes! ♥ Once again this year, the local history museum’s mascot, “Maehara Kiyoshi-kun,” is competing in the “Museum Character Award 2026,” hosted by IM’s “Internet Museum.” [Voting Period] Through Thursday, September 3 (You can vote once a day.) Who is “Maehara Kiyoshi-kun”? He’s a fairy based on the “perforated-rimmed pottery” unearthed at the Nojio-Maehara archaeological site in Kiyose City. During the special exhibition "Kiyose and Tuberculosis: The History, Present, and Future of Tuberculosis Treatment," from November 1 (Sat) to December 7 (Sun) (except Mondays, when the museum is closed on Mondays. Volunteers are needed to help at the reception desk from November 1 (Sat.) to December 7 (Sun.) (except Mondays, if Monday is a national holiday, the museum will be closed on the following Tuesday). Periodic Closure of the Folklore Exhibition Room

The Kiyose City Local History Museum is participating for the first time in the “Museum Zodiac Collection Award 2026: Horse,” a competition in which collections related to the zodiac, held by museums across the country, compete through a voting system.
