The 100th anniversary of the opening of Kiyose Station was commemorated with the publication of the "Kiyose Station 100th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine". This commemorative magazine includes a special message from singer-songwriter Emi Fujita, nostalgic photos of Kiyose Station, the winning entries of the "Kiyose Station Painting and Photography Contest," and the exhibition of the special exhibition "100 Years of Kiyose Station: The Town Kiyose Walked with the Station," held from June 9 to September 1, 2024. The book also includes the catalogue of the special exhibition "100 Years of Kiyose Station - Kiyose, the Town that Walked with the Station" held from June 9 to September 1, 2024, and is a valuable volume containing various information and materials!
In addition to illustrations from "Aruku Hito" and other works, the book includes essays by Masayuki Kusumi (manga artist and musician) and Hirokazu Koreeda (film director), and a dialogue between Natsuo Sekikawa (writer) and Fusanosuke Natsume (manga columnist). The contents are well worth reading.
It introduces ancient ruins in the middle reaches of the Yanase River, including characteristic ruins in the city such as the Shimojyuku Uchiyama Ruins and the Noshio Area Ruins.
The exhibition catalog for the special exhibition "Kiichi Sumikawa: Commemorative Exhibition of the Order of Culture" has been published. This is the catalogue of an exhibition introducing sculptures and environmental sculptures, including the "Sleigh Shapes" series, which has become his lifework and representative work.
We have published a report on the collection and organization of a vast amount of fabrics and edge rips, commonly known as rags, donated by the Morita family related to the "Kiyose Uchiiori," a nationally designated Important Folk Cultural Property. It shows that people in the past reused usable fabrics to the last.
