Once again this year, the local history museum’s mascot, “Maehara Kiyoshi-kun,” is competing in the “Museum Character Award 2026,” hosted by IM’s “Internet Museum.”

Who is “Maehara Kiyoshi-kun”? He’s a fairy based on the “perforated-rimmed pottery” unearthed at the Nojio-Maehara archaeological site in Kiyose City.
He might even be one of the largest in the Kanto region!

A slightly shy earthenware fairy.
Her favorite food is “Kiyose’s local udon.”
She’s absorbed in collecting “shards of light” while lost in thoughts of the Jomon period.
One quiet midnight at the museum.
The curator was slurping down some late-night udon, rubbing her sleepy eyes.
Beyond the steam, a shadowy figure could be seen...DOKI.DOKI
“A large jar? Ah, just the same old earthenware I’m used to seeing...”
And just then, right ahead... the earthenware began to walk, bumping along.
“Hmmmmmm!? Puuuuuuuuu!?”
It was precisely at that moment—when he was so startled that he blew a massive stream of udon out of his mouth—
that the adventure spanning time and space began for “Maehara Kiyoshi-kun,” the fairy of the perforated-rim earthenware, and the slightly nerdy museum curator.
